The nearest small country store with some groceries is 3 miles away. There is a full-service cafe called “Railroad Market & Cafe” located 3 miles from us. The nearest full-sized grocery store is in Damascus, 17 miles away.
Most of our primitive tents sites accommodate a maximum of six people and one car per tent site. For details see the description of each site. We have overflow parking available if you have additional cars.
We allows pets, just please pickup poop, keep them on a leash, and quiet at night. Pets are not allowed in our cafe/office or on the cafe patio except for trained service animals per Virginia Health Dept. regulation.
Yes and we have firewood for sale.

The start (highest point) of the Virginia Creeper Trail is 100 feet from the campground driveway. You can start your ride from the campground, and then get a shuttle back from either Damascus or Abingdon.
2024 Cancellation Policy
You can cancel for a $10 fee up to 14 days before your reservation.
Between 14 and 3 days before your reservation we will refund 50%.
If you can cancel with less than 3 days notice we will refund 0%.
To cancel, please reply to your confirmation email and request a cancellation.
There are no exceptions to the cancellation policy. No exceptions for weather, illness, or mechanical problems. In the event of any kind of natural disaster or act of god, camping credit vouchers will be issued, no refunds.
2025 Cancellation Policy
You can cancel for a $10 fee up to 14 days before your reservation if your reservation cost was $150 or less. If your reservation total was more than $150, the fee is 10% to cancel up to 14 days before your reservation.

2025 Reschedule Policy
Peak Dates include any Friday or Saturday night before the 4th of July.
Peak Dates also include any Friday or Saturday night after Labor Day.
Peak Dates also include Holiday weekends.
Peak Dates also include any weekday during October.
There are no reschedules allowed for reservations during Peak Dates. For non-peak dates we will allow up to one reschedule to other non-peak dates. Reschedules have to be to same priced dates and site types (for example, reschedule from one weekend to another weekend for a primitive tent site).
To request a reschedule, please forward your booking confirmation to creepertrailcampground@gmail.com. Please do this as soon as possible so that we can make your site available to others. Within 7 days of requesting a reschedule, please tell us the new date and site you are requesting. Please check for availability before requesting a reschedule. We will try to get the reschedule processed ASAP, but please allow 5-7 days for processing.
Yes we sell bundles of local firewood at a reasonable price.
Please do not bring your own firewood unless you bought it at a chain store and it has been sterilized. Bringing firewood from other areas helps with the spread of invasive insects which are destroying our forests. To read more: https://www.dontmovefirewood.org/
Our firepits have a metal ring, but NO grills.

For weather, please use your favorite weather app, and the location, “Whitetop, VA” or “24292.” Weather in the mountains is generally much cooler. We have abundant rain in the Spring. Spring rainy season generally is over about mid-June. Afternoon thundershowers are common in the summer.
We do not do monthly RV site rentals.
We do not lock a gate at night so you will be able to enter the campground even if you arrive late.
If the campstore is closed when you arrive, reference the map and your confirmation email to find your site. Please come say hello in the morning so we know you arrived.
Yes, the bathrooms are not locked at night.
Yes, the men’s and women’s bathrooms have 2 showers each. They do not require coins. Bathrooms are generally for campground guests only.
