2024 Season Updates

Hurricane Helene Update:

Hurricane Helene hit our area very hard.    The Virginia Creeper Trail has many trestles washed away and is now closed for repairs between Whitetop and Damascus.   We are back open until the end of season on Nov. 3  Because of the low number of visitors we have suspended Cafe operations for the rest of the season.  We will be back open in May 2025.

Thank you so much to our guests who have donated their reservation funds to recovery.  All reservations between Sept 27th through the end of our season have automatically been issued a raincheck.  Your Booking ID serves as your raincheck.  To reschedule, please email us.

If you visit us, please be careful with route choice.  US-58 between Damascus and Whitetop is gone, as well as many major interstates in NC.  We have verified that the route to the campground from I-81 in Chilhowie exit 58, using Whitetop Rd all the way to Whitetop is cleared and not damaged.  To our Asheville neighbors, if you have a camper or tent and need an escape, please email us for special accommodations.  As of Oct 9, Grayson Highland State Park is open for visitors!

Open April 26 – November 3, 2024

Maximum RV Trailer Length we can accommodate is 28 feet.  We are a small mountain-top campground near the Virginia Creeper Trail accessible only via some curvy roads.  Make sure to visit our ‘Directions’ page to ensure you take a good route to our campground.
